FIBRE-BR Testbed |
The FIBRE-BR facility infrastructure consists of an expansible collection of building block components. The set of components chosen for inclusion within the infrastructure at any given time are intended to allow the creation of virtual networks covering the full range needed by FIBRE’s user community in Brazil. The initial Brazilian facility will include edge sites (aka islands) at each of the nine Brazilian partners in this project. The map below shows the geographical locations of Brazilian edge sites, of which six (including RNP headquarters) are in southeast Brazil, and one in each of the North, Northeast and Centre West regions of the country. These sites will be interconnected using private (Level 2) channels over wide area and metropolitan networks made available to the Brazilian research and education community. These include RNP’s national Ipê backbone network, the GIGA testbed network jointly maintained by RNP and CPqD. RNP-owned metropolitan networks will be used for access where necessary, and RNP international connections will provide access to other international testbeds, such as the OFELIA and NITOS testbeds, for federation purposes.
